Updated: Mar 30, 2021

Mr. Arun Pandyan, Fitness Coach, Unified Brain Health Care

Pregnancy and childbirth bring a lot of changes to your body. Regular Exercise and Physical activity will help your body recover it's fitness and give you the strength to feel active again.

From a health and self-care perspective, a short workout routine consisting of easy and simple exercises will help you feel better physically and mentally. Issues like diastasis recti and lack of pelvic floor control post pregnancy can be prevented and managed by doing the right exercises, with the help of your doctor and a trained therapist.

The most important thing in getting fit after your baby is to start gradually. 3 to 4 weeks after child birth is a good time to start a fitness regime.

Here are some simple movements to build strength and get you feeling active:

  • Stretches for your body (Upper back, Shoulders, Hips)

  • Band-Resistance exercises (Band Pulls, Presses)

  • Seated Movements (Neck Rotations, Arms Circles, Leg Extensions)

Please note that you need to consult with your doctor about basic core exercises you can perform and when you can start walking.
